Traceability in Lighthouse

For any software project, traceability is about information completeness throughout the entire development process. With Lighthouse, everything can be linked back to the stakeholder and forward to the next step. Link Lighthouse Requirements back to Use Cases and forward to Tests and Defects. Link Change Requests back to Clients and forward to Requirements, and so much more.

Every tool in Lighthouse links to every other tool, giving you complete traceability across your global or local development efforts. Read below to find out about our more advanced traceability techniques as well.

Advanced Traceability New!

With Advanced Traceability, you can easily convert data from one tool into another. Now you have the beginnings of a complete system.

Convert Requirements, Stories or Use Cases into Tests. To automatically convert Requirements into Tests, now that's cool. With Lighthouse, it's a couple of mouse clicks. You can easily convert all your requirements into tests (and vice-versa), and a traceability matrix is automatically created.

Convert Issues into Defects. Lighthouse Issues are often the foundation of either a bug or a change request. Issues come in from prospects, customers, and internal users. Issues can range from a simple question to a complex problem. If it is a problem, then don't loose track of it. Automatically convert it to a bug, establish a link, and go from there.

Convert Issues into Change Requests. Some issues are great ideas that often need further analysis. With Lighthouse, you can easily convert an Issue into a Change Request, and then determine the ROI from there.

Convert Change Requests into Requirements. An approved Change Request eventually becomes a Requirement, so why not automatically create it? You can with Lighthouse, and it means you have complete traceability - where the requirement came from, and where it is going.

Convert Tests into Requirements. In today's 'rapid release' methodologies, more often than not tests reveal missing requirements. With Lighthouse, those tests are easily (and quickly) converted into Requirements - you have complete history and traceability, and nothing gets lost in the shuffle.

Convert Tests into Defects. When a test fails, doesn't it make sense to automatically create a defect and link that defect back to the test case? It does to us, so we did that for you. With Lighthouse, it is simple to create a defect from a failed test case. When the defect is fixed - you know what test needs to be re-run. Simple!

Convert Defects into Tests. Ever hear this comment 'I can't reproduce this bug'. It happens. With Lighthouse, when a bug is added, you can easily add the steps to reproduce it as well as a test case to verify it.

Convert Defects into Change Requests. Some bugs are really enhancements, and some enhancements are worth paying attention to. In a coupe of clicks, you can convert an enhancement into a Change Request for more detailed analysis.
